Whovian Birthday

Image
So it's been a long time since my baby turned one. I haven't shared her birthday decorations yet because... 1. we were so busy we forgot to take photos of the decorations! 2. the few photos that were taken are scattered over different cameras. 3. She's a handful! Here are a couple things which I kept long enough to take another photo: These are large chalkboard banners from DCWV and the rose was made with the 11x17 stack using the template on the back cover.  Because what's a Doctor Who party without a Rose?! I promise we were able to see this better outside during the party. I used the DCWV banners DIY project stack, the chalkboard banners DIY project stack, the Stardust stack, The 16x20 neutrals stack and the Glitzy Glitter stack.  I printed that tigger in the tardis and fussy cut it. I can't believe she's 1! I used the stardust stack for this one. I outlined the edges of the O and E with white chalk to help them stand out and giv

Holiday House

Image
Hello! I would like to show you how I made this little holiday house with the new DCWV DIY Project Stack Favor Boxes (Christmas edition!). I scanned the house favor box template in to my scan and cut and saved the file. Then I loaded the mat with the paper I wanted to use and Voila! A beautifully cut house!  The scaned image showed a few imperfections, but I decided to try anyway and the imperfections were really minuscule. The scanned image was hyper detailed. I'm glad I tried it anyway! I used my Scor-Pal to crease as indicated on the template and folded using my bone folder. I used Scor-Tape to secure it all together because I know it will hold. Since the paper in the stack is double sided, I used the squares that were cut out from the windows to embellish the chimney and make it look like it was made out of bricks. I used a red pearl for the door knob. I attached the chimney to the roof using a piece of clear tape. I folded the tape inside the c

Halloween Fright House

Hello! Today, I want to show you how I take full advantage of the DCWV DIY Holiday Project stacks year round.  I used the Christmas Favor Boxes stack to create a House shaped favor box for Halloween! Yes! Halloween! I used the 12x12 Spooky Delight stack to make the house. I covered the door with washi tape and added an enamel dot for the knob. I cut a couple strips of the cemetery paper from the 12x12 stack and glued them back to back. Then, I folded them around the house to make it look like there’s a cemetery behind it.  The foreground is from the Spooky Delight 6x6 stack. I used a craft knife to cut the tombstones and bus almost to the bottom of the paper, then I folded it up so they would stand.  The little house is the container for a necklace and earring set I made with these blue moon beads Holiday Fright charms. There's an electronic tea light in there too so the recipient can use it as a lighted decoration.  I tried taping the neck

Grown Up Treat Bag

Image
Hello! Oh my. Time flies! It's Ocotber. How?! Ugh!  So here we go, let's get started with the Halloween crafting!  I have a quick little treat bag idea you can make with a couple of the papers from the new Spooky Delight stack out at Joann Stores. This one is for my husband…let’s hope he doesn’t see this! To make part of the bag, I used the ghost lines paper because it reminded me of Pac Man ghosts and he loves Pac Man. I scored it and folded it like in the image below. I used a Fiskars Punch on the top to get the pinked edge. The finished bag measures 9” high, 7” long and 2” wide. On the bottom, I cut some of the creases to make tabs. I folded them up and secured them with Scor-Tape For the front panel of the box, I cut the trick or treat paper the same size as the bag base and used the pinked edge punch on the top. I lined the edges with scor-tape and taped the two pieces tog

DCWV and Spellbinders Whimsical Woodland Blog Fest

Image
Hello!  Today, I'm up on the DCWV Blog  with a fall page for the Whimsical Woodland Blog fest with Spellbinders . I got to work with these cute mushroom dies from Spellbinders. I love the texture that I got after I ran them through with the embossing plates on my artisan explorer machine.  The page with the starry sky from the Spooky Delight stack gave me a good starting point for my background. I die cut the mushrooms from the Harvest House stack and added them on the bottom as an anchoring point for my title. I used the Spooky Delight 12x12 stack, the 6x6 Harvest House stack and the 12x12 Premium Vellum with foil stack to cut the circles. I Love the gold foil on vellum and it was tough to capture in a photo.  I'm saving this page for the photos of our first pumpkin patch visit. I don't feel the need to add pumpkin embellishments anywhere because there will be plenty of pumpkins in the photo. I've always loved mushrooms. They are s
