Hey There!

Image
December has been super busy, but I've been creating a lot. Here are a couple of layouts about a recent trip to Legoland and the Sealife!  I like to include memorabilia like the park maps and information we get in the entrance. It'll be fun to see how it changes over the years. In this first layout, the background paper is from the embossed white stack. I used a couple pockets from an old DCWV release to add the ticket stubs, journaling and map. Anyone still hoarding those pockets? I sure am! No worries if you don't have a ready-made pocket though. A simple pocket can be made by folding a piece of your favorite DCWV paper around your memorabilia and adhering the bottom edge and the overlapping sides. You can use a punch around the open edge of the pocket to give it a unique look. In this second layout, I used the Coastal stack and a pocket I got as a receipt holder for an online order. Yes, I keep those too! I put the aquarium map in the pocket, along wit

Just a hint of Christmas

Image
Hello!  I have a home decor project to show you today. I just happen to be a little behind on Christmas and this is the only evidence of December in my house. We don't even have a tree yet! It was super easy to create these decorations with the DCWV Moravian Star Light Up Stack and the Lia Griffith Paper Lanters. Both of these are available at Joann stores. There's a great tutorial for assembling the winter lantern on the Lia Griffith website. You can spray the lantern layers, ink them with a soft sponge if you want a colorful lantern. I really wanted a white one, though. The detail looks wonderful in real life!  I added an LED candle to the lantern and I turn it on every night during dinner. It makes everything just a little more cozy! Next up is the Moravian Star. This is one of those projects that I did while watching TV. I started assembling the star by making clusters of 5 with the little triangles. I used Scor-Tape to hold it together.  I l

Winter Wonderland Blog Hop with Eileen Hull and DCWV

Image
Hey there! Thanks for joining us :)  I hope this blog hop has inspired you to get crafty!  These are the supplies I used for the projects: Eileen Hull's Twist and Style tool along with the Cranberry Christmas and Gift Tag stacks from DCWV:  I made these boxes from the Gift Tag stack. The boxes AND the embellishments are already die cut in there! just punch it out and assemble!   I used the twist and style tool to twist my thin strands of twine into a thicker, more decorative accent for these presents. I also added blue moon beads charms to some of the boxes.             The acetate doily IS IN the stack!!! How awesome is that?! I twisted gray/white and red twine here. These little boxes are so versatile, they don't have to be used just for the hoildays.  I love this one! The thin red and green twines just scream Christmas when twisted together! And how cute is that little penguin?! The stars and snowflake on these boxes

Pumpkin Chandelier

Image
Hello! This is Karla. I have a home decor project to share with you using the DIY pumpkins project stack. In the very back of the stack, there are directions for how to assemble a pumpkin chandelier. I loved that idea and made my own version:   I assembled the pumpkin using the instructions included and used fishing line to attach it to the top 'bow' part of the chandelier. I made 2' bows' instead of 4. Since I'm looking at this from underneath, I doubled up the big hanging 'leaves' and glued them wrong sided together so I wouldn't have a white side showing underneath. I hung the pumpkin chandelier with garden twine and  stapled on some of the leaves that are included in the stack.  I also happen to have this stack:  which comes with a set of string lights.  Since I'n not ready to hang up the Christmas decor yet, I hung the lights along the twine and I love the effect. It's so cozy!  Hope you have a wonder

November stack-a-holic challenge

Image
Hello!  Does anyone else think that October went by in a flash? I definitely do!  But at least a new month gives us a new excuse to craft with the DCWV challenge :)  I've been participating in these long before I was part of the design team. They're still my favorite monthly challenge :)  Here's my take on this month's sketch: This is my baby painting with watercolors at the LACMA. They have a great children's room there with many different media for painting.  She's loved painting since she was tiny. She still does and now she also has her own set of stamps and washi tape because she kept 'borrowing' mine lol.  So maybe she's not a brilliant artist...yet. But we really enjoy her work :)  Here's the sketch from eternally inspired mama :  Make sure you visit the DCWV blog for the rules and more inspiration from the team!

DCWV plus Pink and Main!

Image
Hello! Hope you're having a great day full of crafty inspiration!  I decided to make a card and a layout today. I'm on a heat embossing kick and I had so much fun embossing with the Pink and Main stamps. They stamp so clearly, the embossing turns out great. Even the detailed handwriting. Color me impressed!  This card features the DCWV Autumn Leaves 6x6 stack, Blue Moon Beads flower and twine and Pink and Main Thankful stamp set. I always like to have cards on hand because I always seem to need one when I don't have time to make one! Especially during holiday season. This layout is about my daughter's first time in a corn maze. She loved it, even at that young of an age. This maze is in a pumpkin patch that has lots of sun flowers but somehow, they never make it into the photos I print. I decided to emboss some sunflowers in the background and then I just had to do the hearts because I love this photo and memory so much.   This layout uses t

Halloween Party Fun!

Image
Hello! Anyone have a Halloween party planned?  I do and I've been busy making decorations. By the way,  I have a cute little helper for today's post:  If you're having a party, these stacks are a MUST.  I was able to quickly make these cute decorations very quickly thanks to these 2 stacks: Here's a sample of the cool stuff I made.  The bats in the background are simply popped off the stack and taped to fishing line and the line is secured to the display board.  I also took a couple bats and put them on sticks. They can be used as props in a photo booth :)  Here's my little helper showing you these props.  Surprisingly, she loves that paper cat! The hats are cool because they can be used as treat holders, photo booth props, or party hats! Just staple some elastic to the sides for a handle or to secure on your head.  These treat containers from the Lia Griffith stack make great goody bags to

October stack-a-holic challenge

Image
It's that time again! DCWV's Stack-a-holic challenge was recently posted on the blog.   Here is my take on the sketch:  I use the stateside stack for this photo about my friend's first visit to California. She dreamed about visiting Death Valley and here we are in the salt flats at bad water.  I used Modeling paste and the Stateside stencil set for the title 'here we go.'  The dots are an older DCWV stencil.  I hope you get to play this month.  As always, there is also a card sketch if that's what you're into ;)

Friend Friday with DCWV and Chameleon

Image
Hello! Welcome to Friend Friday! We've teamed up with our friends at Chameleon for blog hops and giveaways the first 3 Fridays of this month.  For my project I decided to use one of my favorite DCWV stacks: Jet Black  Jet Black is black and white with gloss resist and includes a couple solid glitter pages.  I love it because I can use it as is or change it by adding color. These Chameleon pens were perfect for adding just the right amount of color to my layout:  I started this layout by choosing a photo that I really love but have had a hard time scrapping.  The photo is a bit grainy and it's been hard to find papers that match the photo, story and mood.  I picked my favorite journaling cards and started coloring them. I decided to go with an ombre effect by touching the tip of the marker to the mixing chamber for 5 seconds and using the lightest tone in the middle of the cricles and larger flowers. I played around with my photo
